Just a bit of news from the railway no work is being done on the expansion at this time as we are having a very good year for passengers numbers being up on last year so we must be doing some thing right

Cherry weekend went very well having a very busy 2 days only two problems over the weekend in that no6s chain come off after only 4 runs on the Saturday having to be towed back to Brogdale station by Lady Fiona  but was soon  up and running again for the rest of the day..Then on Sunday  No9 was out working a train and late in the day the throttle  cable bloke so was out of service for the rest of the day no5 taking over its train.

The Swale Festival of Transport which is at Brogdale on the 26th and 27th of September now has  its own website with details of the Festival and be found here  and a note for your diary  Faversham Miniature Railway will be at the G-Scale Kent Garden Railway Show on the 25th July at the Alexander Centre Faversham so why not come and find us more details can be found here on the G-Scale website

26th MAY 2009

Sorry about the delay in news from the railway, but with lots going on at work, I have not had  a lot of time

The expansion is going well with a new crossing over the concrete road into the cherry orchard so now  we can start to lay track down the side of the orchard see photos page for some views of the work going on. The railway is as poplar as ever this year with a steady flow of people coming to see us and ride on the railway. The bank holiday weekend was very good with 3 busy days. The sun coming out helped, at least.

And last a note for you diaries on Sunday the 7th of June the Annual Bucket and Spade run to Ramsgate is leaving from Brogdale. The event is organized by the Ramsgate old motor and cycle club. The vehicles are arriving at Brogdale from 8.00am onwards and leaving  for Ramsgate at 10.00am

14th APRIL 2009

The work on the expansion is currently on hold, as we are waiting for the digger to return so we can dig down the side of the orchard. We have been doing work on the main line. We found that some of the sleepers were rotten but they had been down for 9 years, so this is only to be expected.

Easter weekend went well with lots of passengers riding on the trains all weekend

A note for your diaries, over the weekend of 26th and 27th of September, the Swale Festival of Transport is being held at Brogdale. It is a very large event with lots of vehicles taking part. More news on this will follow later in the year

23rd MARCH 2009

Bring you mum for free day went well with a steady flow of mums riding on the trains with the kids

Don't forget we are open this Saturday 28th of march as Brogdale are taking part in Kent's big day out

We are sill working hard on the expansion the concrete crossing have all been laid so its all system go for track laying down the side of the orchard.

9th MARCH 2009

The expansion is going full steam ahead. With the Y point down, we have been able to lay the track to the next crossing over the concrete road, which we hope we be laid in the next week or so. After that, we will be laying track down the side of the orchard ready to swing back round to connect up with the track at Plumley station. This is the main part as there is just over 200 metres to lay before turning back towards the station. In the next few days I will add some photos so you can see what is going on

Two events for your diaries. On the 22nd of March, we will be having a bring your mum for free day. For any one who does not   know its is Mothers Day. Also, on the 28th of March will we be opening on the Saturday to coincide with Kent's Big Day Out which Brogdale is taking part

All so their is a members area where i will be posting news and  updates for members of the society only  so please join if you are a member of the society any problems then give me a ring or see me on Sunday.

3rd MARCH 2009

First the good news, we have decided to hold the price of the fares for the 3rd year running at a £1 a ride. The expansion is coming on in leaps and bounds. The new concrete crossing has been laid and the Y point has been made and laid, so its all systems go for track laying. The first Sunday of opening went very well, with a steady flow of passengers riding the railway. Lets hope this is a sign of a good year ahead for Faversham Miniature.

27th FEB 2009

We start 2009 with very good news. After some delays, we are finally able to expand the railway big time. Over the next few months we will be able to connect the railway for a full circuit .This will be a big step forward for us as its the first time in the history of the railway we have been able to do this. It will be in a P shape with a Y point giving us lots of running options. I have posted some photos to show some of the work in progress
